Thanksgiving: The Power of Gratitude

Someone holding a sign in front of them — they are blurred, but the sign clearly says “Grateful,” representing the core of Thanksgiving.

As a marketer or business owner, it’s easy to see Thanksgiving as a quiet time. It’s unusual to start B2B marketing campaigns during this period, even though B2C marketing generally ramps up. Startups may feel like there’s nothing much they can do to drum up business right now, so it’s an ideal time to take a different tack and focus on the core of Thanksgiving: Gratitude. Let’s take a look at what you can show gratitude for and what we’re grateful for over here at Arch Collective.

Gratitude for Clients

Businesses that use your products or services are your lifeblood. Engage with your clients at Thanksgiving. Thank them for their business, make sure they know what to expect from you in the new year, and consider a round-up newsletter showing what you’ve achieved for your clients over the last 12 months. You could even highlight an individual business that’s been a “Star Client.” Give them a focus spot on your blog or Instagram, highlighting your relationship with them and why you’re so grateful to have them as a client. Don’t do this with any marketing return in mind — be genuine and sincere, and you may find that you inadvertently reap the benefits, especially if your posts are shared among their peers.

Gratitude to Employees and Colleagues

Your startup wouldn’t grow without the incredible efforts of the people working tirelessly toward its success. Here at Arch Collective, we’re super grateful for our pool of creatives and marketers who support our clients week in, week out, throughout the year. Make sure your teams know how much they mean to you. You could have a highlight on a different member of staff each day over the holiday period on your socials. You could have internal rewards and incentives or simply make sure everyone gets the time off they need to be with their loved ones over the holiday season.

Gratitude to Partners or Investors

Your suppliers, logistics partners, IT partners, marketing freelancers, creatives, accountants — anyone who contributes to your success deserves a shout-out at this time of year. We’re not saying you have to send a gift basket to everyone you’ve ever partnered with! But it’s nice to acknowledge the impact individuals or companies have had on your growth over the last year. Not only does this cement existing relationships, but it demonstrates your integrity as an entrepreneur or business owner.

Gratitude to Your Community

This is a really important one. No business, however big or small, operates within a vacuum. We all have an impact on our community, whether that’s a small town or the wider tech industry that we operate within. Could you involve yourself in a community initiative over the holidays? This could be something very grassroots, like supporting a local event, or something more specific to your niche, like offering tech mentoring to underprivileged students. Celebrate colleagues who are active within your communities, and find out what you can give back to communities that have been particularly supportive of your initiatives over the last year.

Final Word

Finally, show some gratitude to yourself! You’ve worked really hard to get where you are, and it’s okay to celebrate your own achievements and thank yourself — you deserve it. Remember to get some rest, recharge those batteries, and set some all-important goals for 2023. If you want help planning your marketing strategy for the next year, book a 15-minute introductory call with our team here at Arch Collective, who can connect you with a marketing proposition that’s right for your business.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers, clients, and of course, our beloved families and friends.
